EARTH CALLING ADAM GOLDSTONE - WE LOVE YOU! R.I.P

I am very sad. Heartbroken in fact. I have lost a friend and I still don't want to believe that it's true. In fact nobody that knows wants to believe that it is true. But it is true. And we have to find our way of coping with the news in our own way.

Adam Goldstone (R.I.P) was a journalist (TIME OUT, NEW YORK, MIXMAG), a dj, a producer, a party freak, an a-lister, a comedian, a raconteur, a font of musical knowledge, a dapper gent, as mad as a bag of spiders and as thoughtful and understanding as you want and need your friends to be.

He lived his life to the fullest.

I first crossed Adam's path when he was working for WAVE records in New York. He was amongst one of the first US promotions people to ever send me records and we stayed in contact and friends from that time onwards. We hung out in New York, in London, in Miami - wherever there was music, Adam was there, soaking it up, dealing it out, making it live and living it to the max.

He was unique - only Adam dressed like Adam, talked like Adam, played like Adam. There were no copies. I am sure many tried - i admit to having borrowed a teensy part of his vocal idea from Superstars of Rock's 'Orange Sunshine' for my track 'Laugh'. He recorded for many labels including WAVE music and Nuphonic and in the same way as he produced, he dj'ed and always delivered something fun, funky, eclectic, twisted, cerebral and equally as out there as he was.

It is for these reasons that he will always be around, even though (as hard to believe as it is) we know that he can't be around any longer.

Adam died whilst visiting the Burning Man Festival in Nevada and following a freak accident in a shower. This isn't how endings are imagined but it is sadly how this one has been written.

I will miss him badly. As I am sure that every person who has ever had the good fortune to meet him will also miss him.

He was one in a million. And I am sure that wherever he has gone, everyone he meets will love him just the same.

Goodbye Adam. Sweet dreams.
All my love
Paulette x

There will be a number of forthcoming events to commemorate his life and times, but for now, Adam's parents have suggested that in lieu of flowers or anything like that, donations be made in Adam's name to either the New York Civil Liberties Union (http://www.nyclu.org/), or the Black Rock Arts Foundation, the organization behind Burning Man (http://www.blackrockarts.org).

Some of Adam's friends have also suggested another option: Loisaida, Inc, a community-based organization from his beloved Lower East Side.
